WATCH • NOT LIVE YET • NOT OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED

Target looks to be getting ready to sell its most hyped Pokémon releases through a drawing instead of the usual late-night race. Target hasn’t announced anything: no official drawing system, no product list and no start date. Everything below is what we know as of Monday, Oct 12, 2026.

What we know so far

  • Target’s site and app code already has the pieces for a drawing: Enter drawing and Leave drawing buttons, a queue system, checkout deadlines for winners and a limit of one entry per account.
  • Work on it reportedly started around August.
  • The Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box looks set up as the first drawing item, limited to 1 per guest. The staged listing doesn’t show a price yet.
  • We can’t confirm it’s switched on. Target’s public ETB page is still a normal Add to cart listing.

How the drawing would work

  • Enter during a set entry window, with no payment up front.
  • Target picks winners at random and lets them know, most likely by email.
  • Winners get 24 hours to check out themselves. If a winner doesn’t buy, the spot goes to the next entrant.
  • If you don’t win, you may get another shot if stock frees up from unclaimed or canceled orders.
  • You may not need to stay logged in for your entry to count.
  • The goal is fairer drops than first-come-first-served, where the fastest checkout wins.

What happens until then

Nothing changes for now. Target online TCG drops are still first-come-first-served, with limits of roughly 2 per transaction and up to 2 transactions. Keep your account, payment and shipping info ready like always.

How it compares to Walmart

Walmart has already run drawings for Pokémon 30th products. When a Walmart entry wins, the order is placed automatically with the payment and shipping info you gave when you entered. Target’s version reportedly makes the winner come back and check out within 24 hours, so watch your email if you enter.
